Introduction to Journal

Students,

Hello and welcome to the 2008-2009 school year. I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer and is ready to have a great school year. This is going to be a great year in Journalism 102. I would like to send a warm welcome to all the new staff members that have joined us this year; they will be a valued asset for the team. Working on the Newspaper involves teamwork, patience and persistence, in which I know that everyone of you possesses. With that being said, I need every one of you to be the best, and that only comes with practice. Your assignment for the year is to keep a journal. This journal will be graded for participation points only.

The program we are using to do this activity is called Solo. It is a journal writing software that will allow you to write and publish it online in a secured environment.

Journal Rules:

  • You must write in your journal at least 1 time a week.
  • Each journal must be at least 250 words, the more you write the easier it will be to achieve.
  • Do not give anyone your password.
  • All students’ journals are set to private; the administrator is the only person to have access to everyone’s journal.
  • There will be no foul language used on this board at anytime.
  • There is a message board section where the entire class can access and discuss topics of interest.

Throughout the year I will post messages about upcoming events, announcements, assignments, and post comments to your journals.

Sincerly,

The Administrator

Assignment 1 (Due date week from today)

Introduce yourself. Tell who you are, where you’re from. Are you in any clubs or sports teams? What do you expect in the year ahead? Do you have any career aspirations? Talk about anything that has to do with yourself. Remember these are training exercises to help you organize your writing to make a complete story. Have fun!!
